UAE to Introduce Artificial Intelligence Education in Schools Starting From Kindergarten
In a groundbreaking move to lead in global technological innovation, the United Arab Emirates has announced that artificial intelligence (AI) education will be introduced in schools across all age groups, including kindergarten, starting from the upcoming academic year.
The initiative was confirmed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of the UAE, who emphasized the importance of preparing younger generations for a future shaped by advanced technologies.
“Our goal is to provide students with a deep technical understanding of AI, while also instilling a strong sense of ethical responsibility” Sheikh Mohammed shared on X (Twitter).
He further stated, “It is our duty to prepare our children for a future that will be vastly different from the one we experienced”.
A Strategic Step Toward a Tech-Driven Future
This new educational strategy aligns with the UAE’s long-term vision to become a global hub for artificial intelligence. Since establishing the world’s first Ministry of Artificial Intelligence in 2017, the country has consistently invested in AI infrastructure and education. Notably, it also founded an AI-focused university in Abu Dhabi to support advanced research and innovation.
AI as a Pillar of Economic Diversification
As one of the world’s largest oil exporters, the UAE is actively working to diversify its economy beyond oil. Artificial intelligence is viewed as a critical tool in this transformation. Earlier this year, the UAE committed between €30 and €50 billion to build a massive AI data center in France, further solidifying its global AI ambitions.
Empowering Future Generations Through AI Literacy
By introducing AI education from an early age, the UAE aims to cultivate a generation of tech-savvy students equipped with both the knowledge and the ethical awareness needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.
This forward-thinking move ensures that the UAE remains at the forefront of educational innovation while preparing its youth for leadership in a future dominated by artificial intelligence.
